The Starlet Program - Student Activities

Fu Hui Students
Exhibiting Singing Talents in Shanghai and Beijing

In October 2015, Fu Hui students from Eliping Central School in Butuo Prefecture, Liangshan County, participated in the arts festivals organized by the county and province respectively. They received first prize and second prize for their performances and were invited to participate in charitable fundraising activities in Beijing and Shanghai. In Beijing, the Starlets had the opportunity to sing with a choir from Germany. This truly was a wonderful learning experience.

A few years ago these children were still  in rags and dirt, living in poverty-ridden mountains and had never seen the outside world, not to mention a plane. Fu Hui directors were particularly touched seeing them in beautiful costumes performing on stage in Beijing and Shanghai. Fu Hui’s president, Ms. Huang, together with some good friends of Fu Hui, organized  a day trip for the children to visit Shanghai. Fu Hui’s director, Ms. Bing Wu, watched their performance in Beijing with volunteers.

Five of the girls from the same school were also invited to participate in a grand fundraising show organized by CCTV (China Central Television) in 2016. These girls, together with a famous singer from Liangshan, Jikejunri, and the singing group Sun Tribe, performed a Yi song called “Ajielu”, meaning “don’t be afraid”. Their innocent voices deeply touched the audience.

These children from the mountains have endured a difficult journey in life. Fu Hui will continue to support and care for them. Please visit our official YouTube channel by searching Fu Hui Education Foundation for the latest videos. The above performance have also been uploaded. Let’s cheer for our children.
