Rainbow in the Winter
“If not for you, I would be labouring in the wind whipped fields instead of studying in a cosy warm classroom.”, “You are the sun that warms us in the winter, you are the rainbow after a storm that gives me hope!”, “ I will do my best to study hard and become someone like you – bringing society care and compassion!” .... these are a few of the thank you letters received from the tenth Yi Tribe Girls’ class at the ShangSi School.
Provides warm Love
On December 1, 2017, GuangXi’s People’s Progress Committee (PPC) launched the “Rainbow Partnership” Education Donation event in ShangXi County, to ensure students have a warm winter. Many local and regional organizations participated in this event including Li Shang, Member of the CPC Shangsi County Committee and United Front Work Department, and Liang Jingman, Vice Minister of Social Services of Guangxi District People's Democratic Progressive Party, former researcher of Social Services Department of Guangxi District Party Committee, Ms Liu Yanxia from Guangxi Representative of Fu Hui Education Foundation, Participated in the donation activities. At this event, investment and real estate enterprises in GuangXi donated 374 coats valued at over $50,000RMB. A construction company donated $10,000RMB of education funding, while ShangXi County Civil Affairs Ministry organized donations of 170 winter bedding sets. The benefiting classes were the local Yao Tribe Girls Class, Minority Group Junior High Class and the Minority Group Senior Girls Class, totalling 374 students.
Provides material and spiritual support
Over the years, PPC has worked with Fu Hui and other charitable organizations to support more than the tuition and living expenses of these students – they also collaborate to support the students in their social and emotional developments. Just as the Assistant Minister Liang Ying Man says, “Education is more than money or things. We must ensure the students feel the caring and love from their country and community. They will be grateful to their supporters and will want to pay it back to their country.”
After the event, the education project staff conducted an audit to ensure that funds are delivered to the students according to plans.
